Akwetey Akrong, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified adult psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner at Reverence Behavioral Health Services in Oak Brook, Illinois. Mr. Akrong takes a holistic approach to psychiatric care, helping his patients discover their strengths to achieve better mental health.
After earning his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois, Mr. Akrong completed his Master of Science in Nursing at Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Mr. Akrong works with adolescents and adults struggling with mental health conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, and psychotic disorders, to name a few.
A Marine Corps veteran, Mr. Akrong gained a lot of experience evaluating and treating a wide range of mental health disorders while working with veterans at an inpatient facility. He’s also a minister and has extensive experience in family counseling.
No matter what his patients face, Mr. Akrong provides the education, guidance, and support they need to understand and implement a process that helps them
heal.
When not working with his patients, Mr. Akrong enjoys spending time with his family. He also likes to stay fit by actively engaging in regular workouts.
Megan McLaughlan, PMHNP-BC, is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner board-certified to treat patients across the lifespan. Her strong background caring for individuals with diverse psychiatric needs has allowed her to develop personalized interventions that facilitate patient engagement and address each patient’s unique mental health needs.
Megan is deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive space where patients feel heard and understood. She integrates recovery-oriented principles into her practice, empowering individuals to gain insight into their diagnosis while guiding them along their unique healing journey. Her approach emphasizes patient-centered collaboration, education, and personalized treatment planning to promote long-term mental wellness.
Ms. McLaughlan has experience providing compassionate, individualized care to adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population. She treats a wide range of mental health conditions including, but not limited to, substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and ADHD. Megan is committed to meeting the professional expectations and individual needs of each patient, fostering a therapeutic environment grounded in empathy, respect, and trust.
Ms. McLaughlan gradated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Purdue University. While working inpatient psychiatry at the largest hospital in the state of Indiana, Megan earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Indiana University at Indianapolis.
Megan grew up in Michigan and has recently moved back to Chicago after living in Indianapolis. Outside of her clinical work, she finds joy in quiet moments by the water, travelling, discovering new books, tending to her plants, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. These personal passions help her to stay grounded and present; values she strives to bring to each patient interaction.
